Have just bought a new Dell laptop and wondered whether to take Vista off it and replace with XP? Dell say no!?

I am told by Dell that if I take off Vista and replace with XP I will ruin all the ';partioning'; off making it difficult to get my laptop running smoothly again. If this is the case, can I transfer files between my desktop (XP) and friends (XP) and my laptop (Vista)? If not, is it a simple task to remove Vista and replace with XP? And How?Have just bought a new Dell laptop and wondered whether to take Vista off it and replace with XP? Dell say no!?
Okay, now to remove Vista all you really have to do is buy XP and put the disk in.

Now, you can easily transfer files from XP to Vista or vise versa. You can do it via e-mail, CD, External Hard Drive, pretty much anyway that you can transfer files should work.

Now in my opinion, I think that unless a lot of your programs won't work on your new computer, there really isn't any reason to change to XP. So I would just stick with Vista for right now. Unless, it really starts irratating you.

Good Luck!

And have fun with your new ComputerHave just bought a new Dell laptop and wondered whether to take Vista off it and replace with XP? Dell say no!?
It comes preloaded with a lot of software and drivers specific to the devices they installed onto the system. If you opt to swap out for XP then you'll need to manually download and install those drivers, which is an absolute pain in the butt. Best to just learn to love Vista.
I bought my son a laptop a few weeks ago, at our request the shop removed vista and loaded XP. It took them about 3 hours and it works just fine.
some times, you can request while you are in-store that you have windows XP installed, not vista. if it already has vista on it, you might not be able to get XP on it because Dell might not have made drivers for the hardware to be compatible with XP. its a marketing gimmick. if they make something that only works with Vista, they you cant really do anything about it, can you? if you JUST bought it, you could probably take it back.
yes you can! and it won';t run slow.dell is trying to boost windows vista

weclome back windows xp 2 users, use this site to help you out or contact them
although xp is better in my view having used both vista and xp.I still wouldn't change to xp, its too much effort and cost.
If Dell say no that's it. If you buy XP it will be a waste of time and money. You will get nothing but trouble. Vista is the default built into your Dell PC. As mentioned in a previous answer if you wanted XP you should have stated that fact when you bought it first day. Vista will go in on top of XP that's an UPGRADE. on the other hand XP over Vista is a DOWNGRADE and Microsoft do not cater for Downgrades.

Sorry about that. If you have money to throw away give it a go but don't say were not warned. Cheers and Good Luck.
