Got a new laptop, Vista is driving me Bonkers, its worse than learning Linux (which i like btw) got a legal copy of xp pro and lisence, so i thought i would replace vista with xp, but got an error message that setup could not find any hdd's, so have used nlite to stream the relevent drivers but cannot get it to work, its got so i would rather not use the new laptop. can any one help. the laptop is a fujitsu siemens amilo running vista basic.How to replace vista with xp pro mce on 120gb sata hdd ?
Unfortunately I have to say your in for a bit of work as Windows XP does not ship with SATA drivers and they're generally accessed using a floppy drive.
The only way round I can think of would be to backup your Windows XP disk to another disk but during the backup process, add your SATA drivers to that CD. A full walk through is available from my source.
--Warning-- Please check your laptops support for Windows XP before you install XP over vista. There maybe no drivers released for your laptop on any other system apart from vista. If that is the case you will lose a lot of functions by replacing the OS.
