How can I do it? Will my microsoft home 2007 be affected? What do I need to replace windows xp with windows vista?
1. goto the Microsoft web site and run the capability test.
(make sure your hard ware will work with Vista.).
If all is good, get Vista, But wait a little, because Microsoft are going to stop making the 'Vista upgrade' packs and just sell the Full Vista packs at the cheaper price the upgrade pack are sold. (better deal).
Or buy a Vista OEM from www.ebuyer.com, they cost 拢50 for Vista Basic %26amp; 拢60 for Vista premium. (bargain)
(OEM Vista is the same as normal Vista products).
Also Note 'Windows 7' will be on sale next year, Its based on Vista with some extras that did not make it in time for Vista and a few bonus features too.
I would recommend Vista.
Good points in Vista:-
Can handle higher spec hardware.
Better security
Readyboost
easer to navigate/ quicker to navigate
Looks / preview windows etc.
free software upgrades (eg. Norton 2007 free upgrade 2008).
Change is good = learning new things.
xp will become obsolete first.
Bad Points with Vista:
about 6% slower until you customize %26amp; tweak the settings.
Program is bigger, so takes more space on the hard drive.
Very old hardware might no work .
People who are slow to adapt will find Vista hard work.
Microsoft Office 2007?
yes works very well in Vista, built with Vista in mind. What do I need to replace windows xp with windows vista?
With a new computer, and yes Microsoft Home 2007 will need to be installed again. Or then again you can take it to Bestbuy for a conversion of the system.
If you change to Vista, you have to buy everything again and nothing you have now will work.
I was going to buy a new comp but they all have vista on now and because you have to buy everything new I decided to stick with what I have.
You can purchase the software from the website and then download it. Or you can get it at best buy or circuit city or any place like that.
My advice to you is to just stick with XP. I have vista and it sucks. I wish I could get XP again
';2007'; denotes software that was designed with Vista in mind, so it won't be affected.
You need to check to make sure there is drivers available for your hardware for Vista. Most of people's problems with Vista center on the fact that they irresponsibly upgraded without checking first.
One that should be of big concern is sound, because almost everyone wants/need their sound card to work and sound system is totally reworked in Vista, so many cards are not supported anymore.
Also check for video and networking and your printer/scanner, etc. If all that stuff is supported you should be all right.
CNet offers a benchmark utility to make sure your computer's specs meet the bill but it SUCKS. It is horrendously miscalculated. My desktop runs Vista flawlessly, and CNet told me it wouldn't even be able to install.
When you install Vista you will be able to dual boot anyway, so at startup you could choose to load XP anyway. Just a thought.
You buy Windows Vista and put it in the dvd drive. Then you do what it tells you. It's easy.
I imagine all Microsoft programs wiill work, but others, especially some games, won't because Windows Vista doesn't seem to have backwards compatibility.
vista was nothing but junk and problems for me xp is way better
Why not fit another drive to your system, upgrade your ram,if needed (spec of your pc on SYSTEM page in computer),maybe change your graphics card, find out if you need to online, buy a drive on E-bay - 拢20 拢30,fit new drive, load up vista, reboot, switch betwwenj operating systems, jobs a good un !
My XP computer's hard drive died recently. Computer was 4 years old so thought better to buy new one.
WRONG DECISION
Had nothing but trouble ever since!
So fed up with it my son is visiting next week to try and salvage the hard drives contents, and then fit a new drive to my ';old'; computer!
OK I am not a computer expert but I expect things to work logically and properly!
From my experience - don't do it!
Everything you have on your old system will be lost.
The only plus side to this is that it is an extremely good system now that all the glitches have been wiped out.
trust me, stick with windows xp, vista is ****
download this and it should tell you what you will have to do
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product
in the box when you scroll down a little on the right with the title befor you begin is the download link.
my xp is running fine on 1000 - it used to be 250, but my new computer is 1000 AND ITS SO SLOW!
On checking with the Norton virus checker, I found I had 320,000 files in the computer when I started. If you do buy Vista then upgrade yer compu dompu diddly u
