The xp install disk is of an older generation, it can't recognize SATA ones . Follow these instructions http://news.softpedia.com/news/Install-W or find a newer generic version of it.Cant install XP on a laptop running vista, the disk is not visible..help?
to install windows xp over vista, you need to run the cd from your bios, windows only allow you to upgrade the operating system but not to down grade, to do this boot you computer with the cd in the cd drive, press somthing like f12 to get into the boot menu and select cd, hope this helps
Ummm, I bet you got a SATA Hardrive. Windows XP cant read a SATA drive. So do this. http://paparadit.blogspot.com/2007/06/in

Follow the instruction. If you need more help just e-mail me.
raid a stupid technology that normal users dont need, it hides the hard drive on some dell laptops you won't be able to install xp as they're not compatible even with RAID off.

you need to disable RAID from the bios menu and find drivers for your raid.

if you need someone to do this for you check'out this website and email them www.cheaptofix.co.uk
Easy to do. And yes XP can recognize SATA drives... Im running XP on a SATA.

ADVANCED:

Here is what you do. Download a program called paragon partition manager. Create a new partition called ';XP';. Make sure its NTFS format. The volume letter doesnt matter. Then on boot up hit ';ESC'; until it allows you to boot into your CD drive. Then you should be able to see your new volume. Then once you install XP, redownload paragon and delete the old partition and then take the old space and add it to your new partition.

BASIC:

Boot up to your Vista CD and it should display your HDD. Click format. Take your Vista CD out on completion. Insert your XP disk and it should install.
