5 points for the answerI have windows vista as my operating system.?
Repartitioning ALWAYS destroys all files on a partition. If you don't partition the others the files will be left there. However, going back to XP opens you up to more security problems not less.I have windows vista as my operating system.?
U can't go from Windows Vist to XP that is not allowed.
Yes, you can do this fairly easily.

First I'm assuming that all 3 partitions are on the same physical Hard Drive? Otherwise, it's more complicated.

First I would repartition C: using a good, non-destructive program. Partition Magic is good. In fact you ';might'; be able to do it using just Vista's disk manager (not 100% sure, but take a look and see).

Go to Start button and type DISKMGMT.MSC in the search box. This will graphically show all your partitions and free space. See if there's an option to move some D:'s free space onto the C: partition. This won't hurt any of your files. If you can't do it you'll have to use a 3rd party app to resize C: to what you want.

After you've got C: the size you want, boot with the XP cd. Follow the prompts to install XP. You'll be told there's already a Vista installation there, and asked if you wanna trash it. Say yes. You'll also be shown all your current partitions and asked if you wanna change them. That's up to you. But, then just follow the normal XP installation routine.

The files on D: and E: won't be touched, but if any of them were parts of programs that were on C: they'll be useless till you reinstall those programs.

Good luck,

Donk
