I have Vista home, want to take off my laptop. I want to replace it with windows XP, How do I do this.?

well obviously ur gonna have to delete everything u have on ur pc =D

just insert the XP CD, then u know that at the start it says press F2 for setup or F12 for boot, i dunno what F keys u have to press on urs but u gotta read, and press the key to boot, then choose CD-ROOM drive, then it tells u to press any key to boot from CD, do so and its should start loading some files, then u have 3 choices, install XP, repair or something, or do nothing lol. obviously pick install XP, then its gonna show u ur drives, like the recovery drive and the C drive and i dunno what else....... click in the C drive and at the bottom it says press F something to delete this or whatever, choose delete, then its gonna be like new... choose the C drive again (the one that has more space) and choose to install it there, then its gonna ask u to format it, do so..... then it starts formatting it, then after its done it starts installing everything by itself so just wait and then u gotta choose the lenguange and other stuff of ur windows and done! if u have ur drivers cd insert it and install them. if not, then u gotta do how i do...i download the internet drive from my brother's pc and save it in a usb drive then install it here in my pc and then i install all the drivers by myself lol

its pretty simple......I have Vista home, want to take off my laptop. I want to replace it with windows XP, How do I do this.?
u'll need to buy a copy of xp and do a reformat dont use any pirated versions they dont workI have Vista home, want to take off my laptop. I want to replace it with windows XP, How do I do this.?
Ok...here's the simplified version...

Step-1: Buy XP Licence and Install disk.

Step-2: ';Format C:';

Step-3: Insert XP disk into ROM drive, close drawer.

Step-4: Boot-up computer...ROM drive will activate and begin installing XP.

For the REAL simple version...obtain the ';XP Upgrade'; disk for Vista (preferably from the same vendor you obtained the unit from), insert, and follow the step-by-step instructions in the Wizard that launches from there.

Please note...depending on the vendor and store, replacing Vista technically ';voids'; the warranty, and without a LOT of headaches and issues, means that they will NOT work on your machine.

Good Luck!
Why do you want to degrade your OS from better Windows version to an old one such as Windows XP? Maybe, you have not discovered the better side of Windows Vista yet. But anyway, this is how you do it: Make it sure you have your laptop's packaged CD drivers for Windows XP. If you have your Windows XP installer, you boot it from your Optical drive. The installer will direct you to the Disk Partition procedure, delete the partition(s) and create a new one or two. (If you want, you can make the partitions 50% - 50%. Just type 50% or divide the total bytes into 2 and then enter the result). Afterwards, it will direct you to format the initial disk's partition. Use NTFS file system. Follow the installer instructions untill Windows XP is fully installed. You can now format the 2nd partition if you created it using Windows XP format command in the ';My Computer';. Afterwhich, you need to install all device drivers using the package driver CD. Install applications, antivirus, etc...
As far as I know, there's no way to replace Vista with XP without having to format the hard-drive. This can be done by simply booting from the Windows XP disc and selecting the hard drive. Once it warns you there's already an operating system installed, you have the option to format the drive.
