Repair XP boot registry that is dual boot with Vista?

Problem: I have a machine that C drive is Vista and D drive is XP. Due to recent issues with the XP install, the boot registry has become corrupted and needs to be replaced/fixed. When I boot up with the XP CD to try repair the boot, I receive a pretty blue screen of death due to the fact that the C drive is Vista. How would I go about repairing the bootstrap to the XP drive?Repair XP boot registry that is dual boot with Vista?
Try easy BCD, its the best and the easiest in solving XP-Vista booting troublesRepair XP boot registry that is dual boot with Vista?
There are many solutions on the web - BartPE might be the easiest. Or UBCD. Or even a Linux Live CD or GPartEd CD. If you can get any Windows CD running, run fixmbr. If not, see if GPartEd complains about sda1 (your C drive) and offers to fix it. I used that once to get a boot sector back.

(Or a DOS floppy or CD with a raw disk editor, if you want to spend the time to learn what a boot sector should look like. It's pretty easy once you know what you're looking at. Finding a DOS disk editor is the hard part.)

if you want to install 2 os, install the later version first. that means u have to install xp first before vista
