1. In BIOS, make sure the boot order lists the CD Drive as first, followed by the hard drive.

2. Insert the XP install disk.

3. When prompted, boot from disk.

4. You should be able to format your drive and install XP.
hi hi I'm winner .I want to be your friend.you must for your yahoonick.
well i would bet that you will not beable to put XP onto a machine that came with Vista, but in order to make the sata portion work you will need to change the settings in the bios to make xp recognize it by default it does not it needs the drivers and the drive needs to be configured...

the other option would be to load vista back on it and run the notebook the way it was ment to be run
There are too many variables here to properly diagnose your problem. I would first recommend that you verify that you are doing it the right way. Here are Sony instructions on ';How to downgrade to the Windows庐 XP operating system using the SATA HDD drivers';:

If clicking on the above link doesn't work, then copy the link and paste it in the Address box of your web browser, then follow the instructions on that link.

If you still cannot get it to work, then I suggest that you talk to a live person, who can assist you interactively. You can contact Sony Tech Support through the link below:

Good luck!
