How can I uninstall Vista and replace it with XP? When I attempt to boot the xp disk, I get the BSOD.?

I called Dell but they are of little help.How can I uninstall Vista and replace it with XP? When I attempt to boot the xp disk, I get the BSOD.?
The XP cd most likely does not have the drivers necessary for your computer's hard-disk controller - assuming that the first stage of the XP setup went fine but gave you a BSOD on the next reboot after.

You will need to obtain the hard-disk controller drivers for XP and put them on a floppy disk. Then, when starting XP setup, watch out for something like ';Press F6 to setup additional drivers'; on the bottom of the screen. You'll need to press F6 and insert your floppy disk, then just follow the instructions provided thereafter.How can I uninstall Vista and replace it with XP? the best way is to format the hard drive and prepare it with partitioning software, you can get the software you need through your hard drive's manufactures website. For example, if its a maxtor hard drive, goto maxtor.com and search for downloads and their version of hard drive tools, which is MaxBlast5 and download it. Burn the files downloaded to cd and it will be bootable. Start your pc up with the cd in the drive and make sure your boot sequence is set to cd-rom first and it will start up in maxblast. Then erase the hdd and then create a new partition, once done, it will tell you to remove the cd and press cntrl+alt+del to restart. Then once it restarts, it will tell you operating system missing, thats when you put in your bootable windows xp cd and press any key. From there you should know what to do. if you need more help pm me on here or email me at samuelsteven@hotmail.com
A fresh format of a drive is preferred when installing a different operating system, or even reinstalling the same operating system. If there is any data that you need to keep then put that on a storage device like USB HardDrives or if the amount of data is minimal even your USB Pendrives should be sufficient for documents.

Once you have backed up your data, you can proceed to formatting your hard drive. (remember to double check you have everything you want to keep on a safe external storage device(eg. usb drives) at this stage)

To do a manual format, restart your computer, keep on tapping F8 until you see a different boot up menu, select Command Prompt. Then you should see a '; C:\ '; type in '; format C: '; and then '; y ';

otherwise, just load your windows XP cd in and restart the computer. do not try and reinstall inside windows vista, you must do this before windows vista is running on your computer.
